Hello all!
I was thrilled to find your forum today after doing a google search.
I have always been a avid "dumpster-diver" and a few weeks ago I was shocked to find a full height 19inch, 4 post AV rack sticking out of a construction dumpster where they were remodeling a large office building. I asked the most "in-charge" looking person I could find if they cared if I grabbed the rack and he didn't care..
Well, I went to grab it and found that it was full of Audio gear!
I now own a plain 9442A power amp, an anniversary series 9442a amp, a 1415A 150W amp, and a very obscure "microbus" 8551A equalizer. (also an EV ELX-1R 4 channel mixer but thats not legacy AL gear..)
I have a very basic knowledge of electronics and multimedia equipment, and I would like some help in putting the equipment to use.
You see readers, I'm getting married in a month, and rather than pay big money to have a DJ, I have been given the green light to use this equipment (and some speakers I'll have to buy) and an MP3 player to play music at my wedding.
Now, I have figured out that I can get a phono to XLR converter to plug into the 4ch mixer(I'll also have a microphone), that I can plug an XLR cable from the mixer into the 1415A's XLR input. However, I see only one XLR output(at least, I think its an out because I don't understand what the horizontal screw terminal is for). Does this mean I run it into one PA-type speaker and then hook up another speaker into this first speaker and run the speakers in series? What Ohm rating and I running at this point? What ohm rating am I looking for in PA speakers?
Also, the venue is outdoors, is the 150W amp enough power?
Please, any assitance you can provide would be great. I get a chill just thinking about putting this really high quality gear to work for my wedding (especially considering the price)
Thanks!
K.

Get some efficient speakers and these amps will do it, but depending on how large area you want to cover, you might need more. I use the 9442 amp to drive just the 902-8B drivers on my 3-way PA setup, crossed over around 1600Hz.
The mixer is probably mono. If you aren't concerned about sound quality a lot, then just make a "Y" cable and split to the 2 channels of the amp, or to the 2 separate amps if you are going to bridge them. (using MP3's for sound, I would assume the quality wouldn't be the greatest anyway)
